Heading south...

Decided today we'd try running our 13 miles in the other direction, so we headed south along the river to Liberty State Park and back. Was probably one of our slowest runs, but possibly the most fun because we spent most of it just yacking.

Overall observation was that the route was a little less crowded -- fewer people and cars to deal with. The only thing was there was a heck of a lot of goose poo (!) on the trail at the park.

My left knee is still being a pain.

Twenty miles!

We ran almost all the way to the George Washington bridge yesterday -- a grand total of 20 miles -- yikes! Yesh did pretty well and was able to run most of it, as did our running buddy Monica, while I did pretty well for the first 16 miles, and then progressively went from running > walking > stumbling > hopping!

Major issue for me right now is the left knee -- it starts to act up around mile 12/13 and then progressively gets worse (ouch!). The right knee and ankles were also pretty sore, but bearable.

None of this stopped us from having a wonderful time at our friends Priya and Johnny's wedding later that day/night though!

Running again...

So after a week's hiatus (tech spec deadline at work, argh!), I finally went out running again last night. Hadn't run since our 18-miler the weekend before.

Conclusion: I can't skip a week of running again!

I was supposed to do 5 miles but tanked at 3.5. Was stiff, felt a little sick, was huffing and puffing... not good! And am very tired this morn.

Have 4 miles on my schedule for tonight... am telling myself it will be better!

18 miles!

We ran 18 miles this morning -- unbelievable! Ran most of the way from Hoboken to George Washington bridge.

Had my best run ever -- made great time, actually enjoyed the run along the water, and wasn't too far behind Yesh. The last 4 miles were brutal though -- my left knee started acting up again and I had to walk most of those last few miles :(

Yesh had a great run too... yay! He then headed to the US Open men's finals with Simon to watch Federer play Roddick, while I went jean shopping with Libby. Libby and Simon were visiting with us this weekend from Kiwi-land!
