Summer Run with Fal
Was supposed to be 95 degrees today -- yikes! So Fal and I decided to head out early (8:30 am on a Sunday morn). Surprisingly, there were quite a few others out on the streets of Hoboken.
We kept it simple -- run in the shade, walk when overheating, and keep talking to a minimum ;)
We ran for over an hour, which was hard, but we treated ourselves to a run through a cool fountain in Elysian Park and an extra bout of stretches at the end.

Some suggestions on running in the heat from Rahul:
------------
Runners,
hope you are all resting on the designated rest day! As your miles keep on increasing and the weather starts getting warmer make sure you follow a couple of important things.
1. Always hydrate well - does not mean you keep on drinking gallons and gallons of water throughout the run - a good rule of thumb is a sip say every 10-20 depending on the temp - whatever you do, please dont down a whole litre of water in one go and run - your stomach will hurt and will not be able to run!,
2. Replinishing your salts with gatorade etc (no gatorade is not paying me to write this:)) is also a must
3. Make sure you wear a cap/band so tht the sweat does not start trickling down your face like a salty river!!! if you are running long, suggest you wear a cap, we dont want you all getting sun strokes etc!
4. We are in the process of ordering running gear (aka cool max shirts) - but suggest you use (buy 1 if you can) them for your runs as they are much better than cotton ones as they let you breathe better.
5. Try to eat a lil bit of either banana, power bar etc when you say run in the morning, esp more than 2-3 miles - its always good and also helps you train for getting used to eating before even longer runs...
thought i d share some of thelearnings from last year...
hope you all are enjoying your runs!
till next time
Regards,
Rahul Puri
